Nov 06, 2024

On the afternoon of October 24th, Deputies were notified about illegal narcotics found inside the Pettis County Jail.

The suspect in question, Lindsey Rose Keeling, 35, of Sedalia, had been arrested by Sedalia Police on four Pettis County municipal warrants. The warrants were issued in January 2024 on Animal Ordinance Violations. The violations concerned two dogs, one large male Husky and one female blue Pit Bull. Both animals were allowed to run at large, and did not have licenses or vaccination records. Bond on those Animal Violation tickets was set at $298.00 cash only.

While being booked at the Pettis County Jail, Keeling was walked through the full body scanner. The probable cause report notes that every arrestee is required to go through the body scanner to check for illegal contraband that is not allowed inside the Jail. After using the body scanner on Keeling, Deputies noticed a foreign object secreted on her person. She was then escorted to the booking room bathroom. Keeling retrieved a glass smoking pipe from her vagina.

Keeling was then placed back into the body scanner. More items were discovered to be secreted on her person. She was then escorted back to the booking room bathroom. Keeling retrieved a small clear plastic baggie with a white crystal substance and a small clear plastic jar with a piece of paper inside of it from her vagina. Inside the piece of paper was a white crystal substance.

The approximate weight of the white crystal substance in the baggie was noted at .9 grams. The probable cause statement notes the baggie was covered in a red residue Deputies believed to be blood from Keeling's' person. After a field test kit was performed on the white substance, it tested positively for fentanyl. The substance in the piece of paper was tested, and came back positively as .5 grams of methamphetamine.

Keeling was again scanned through the body scanner. Correctional Officers believed another item was secreted on her person. Keeling was then transported to the Bothwell Emergency Room for a further eventuation. Deputies later advised that a glass smoking pipe with a white crystal residue was secreted in her rectal area.

Keeling now faces charges of felony Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree*, felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and felony Delivery or Possession of a Controlled Substances to a County/Private Jail. According to Casenet 24PT-CR01697, another charge of felony Tampering With Physical Evidence was filed. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

*The statutory amount for a Trafficking charge is 20 milligrams. Keeling had 900 milligrams of Fentanyl and 500 milligrams of Methamphetamine on her person.
