Memorial Day sales: Score 50% off SimpliSafe security systems

May 11, 2023

Memorial Day is one of the best times of the year to save on devices and appliances for your home — including SimpliSafe security systems.

Memorial Day is one of the best times of the year to save on devices and appliances for your home — including SimpliSafe security systems.

For those looking for an easy to use and even easier to install home security system, SimpliSafe's wireless, Wi-Fi connected systems are hard to beat — and right now, SimpliSafe is offering one of its biggest discounts of the year. For a limited time, customers can get 50% off any new SimpliSafe system with interactive monitoring.

We like SimpliSafe for its convenient, wireless installation options. You can set up your system yourself in just a matter of minutes with peel and stick sensors — no drilling or tools needed. SimpliSafe is highly customizable (you can connect up to 99 sensors), making it ideal for homeowners across a range of needs. The system also integrates with a range of smart home devices, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Watch and August Locks.

SimpliSafe offers professional installation and 24/7 monitoring if you need it, though you can also choose to self-monitor. And now, the 50% off Memorial Day sale makes it an ideal time to invest in one of the best-reviewed wireless security systems on the market.

If you’re a tech-obsessed millennial, you’ll love how easy it is to set up and use the SimpliSafe security system. You can buy the system online and install the peel-and-stick sensors within minutes. Monitoring is optional but affordable. Professional monitoring is available for $.99 per day, while self-monitoring costs $0.33. There's also a free unmonitored plan (though it's not eligible for the Memorial Day sale).

While SimpliSafe is a great choice for most homes, it's not ideal if you want integration with Siri, aka Apple HomeKit. It's also a bad choice if you want to avoid paying fees after purchasing the security equipment, which ranges from about $250 to $500 (or about $125 to $250 during the Memorial Day sale). Otherwise, SimpliSafe's customizable options make it a great choice for a wide variety of people, whether you want DIY or professional home security monitoring.

SimpliSafe's system is very easy to install. The process involves plugging in the base station and downloading the SimpliSafe app. From there, the app guides you, step by step, to stick components on your walls and test and name various devices. Generally you can have the system up and running in about 20 minutes.

If that process sounds too arduous or time-consuming, SimpliSafe offers professional installation, which starts at $99. However, the company says that 97 percent of customers opt for DIY installation.

When it comes to home security, your best option is professional monitoring, which means that someone at a monitoring center can contact emergency services for you if an alarm goes off. With SimpliSafe, professional monitoring costs only $0.99 per day, which translates to around $30 per month. This is a decent price, similar to Ring, ADT, and a third cheaper than Vivint. Additionally, no contracts are required so you can cancel Interactive Monitoring at any time. (However, you must sign up for Interactive Monitoring to be eligible for the 50% off Memorial Day sale.)

You can also self-monitor, although it still requires a small fee of $9.99 per month ($0.33 a day). Those who prefer to pay for just the equipment itself — and skip any monthly fees — can opt for SimpliSafe's free unmonitored plan.

If you want professionally monitored home security in an easy-to-install, customizable system, then SimpliSafe is a great option. However, if you want to self-monitor and still get remote control and smart platform integrations without any monthly fees, consider a system from another home security company like Ring or Abode.
