The funding will enable Ciqurix, whose solutions detect fire in environments where heat or smoke detection is ineffective, to become the only product with accreditation under a new fire standard.

Midwich Ignite has made a strategic investment in a UK-based company that specialises in video flame-detection technology.

Ciqurix’s solutions are designed to detect fire in environments where traditional heat or smoke detection is ineffective. These include industrial areas, damp or wet environments, extreme temperatures and outside areas such as waste management plants.

Ciqurix CORE, the business’s flagship product, uses infrared and video analytics to detect the presence of fire.

Midwich Group's corporate venture capital arm, which was launched in January with a focus on high-growth start-ups and scale-ups within the AV and technology sectors, acted as lead investor in the funding round and will take a seat on Ciqurix’s board.

The funding will be used to help Ciqurix achieve accreditation under the new fire standard LPS1976, which will make the CORE the only accredited product on the market.

Will Fenby, investment manager at Midwich Ignite, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Ciqurix at this pivotal moment in the company’s development.

"We have been highly impressed by the team’s innovative approach to fire safety technology, with the company instrumental in drafting the new standard for VFDs, and believe the business is well placed to take advantage of new regulatory tailwinds.

“We look forward to working with the Ciqurix team and supporting them through the next stage of growth.”

Ciqurix's chief executive, Paul Seligman, said: “Partnering with Midwich represents an exceptional opportunity for us to broaden the reach of our FCam CORE system. With their industry expertise and global network, we’re well positioned to expand our market and advance the adoption of video flame detection worldwide.”
