K9 Arno, veteran explosive detector dog, dies at 13
K9 Arno, a 13-year-old Belgian Malinois and veteran explosive detector dog, has died. Arno was partnered with veteran K-9 Officer Jeff Corbett and served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) K9 Section since October 2016.
Arno, along with another explosive detector dog, joined the LVMPD through a generous donation by the Wynn Hotel. Over the years,
Arno conducted thousands of explosive sweeps at various high-profile events, including parades, hotels, VIP vehicles, the Super Bowl, Formula 1 races, New Year's Eve celebrations, the reopening of the Las Vegas Strip after COVID-19, NASCAR, PGA Tournaments, the Electric Daisy Carnival, and other outdoor festivals.
"Thanks to him and other explosives detector K9s, LVMPD has always been able to add an extra layer of safety to our 24-hour entertainment town," said a spokesperson for the LVMPD.
